A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME

Movement Specialist / Pilates Instructor / FRC Mobility Specialist / Exercise Referral

SandraFranco09-03-240122 1.jpg

I was first introduced to Pilates and movement analysis during my training as a contemporary dancer in the 90s and early 2000s. First at collage and later at Laban Dance school. Using concepts and ideas from Laban Movement Analysis and Bartenieff Fundamentals gave me a great understanding of movement initiation, integration and harmony.  As well as the physical/kinesiological function of the homo sapien. My training and Pilates developed a solid understanding of prerequisites of the human body to support the high-end mover/athlete.

In recent years however, my interest expanded quite significantly due to being diagnosed with Arthritis and a heart condition, taking me to a new territory of understanding the human body, far deeper and with a new humble lens. I managed to regain body control, maintain mobility and reduce symptoms with my training approach. Today, my passion and goal is to help others to do the same. Im trained and qualified in Supporting clients living with Long - term Conditions as an exercise referral specialist.

 With my life story I understand my client comes with their own experiences, combined with my expertise has led me to specialise in helping others with arthritis, osteoarthritis, frozen shoulders, hip replacements, knee and foot pain, injuries, personal targets or desired prerequisites for sport performance.

I have a great understanding that living with pain is difficult, destructive and can be felt like a loss of self. I meet it with respect and integrity yet with a strategic plan based on scientific principles and research to help you rebuild and maintain healthy movements within the joints and the body you were housed in.

 My most recent training included;

Developed by world-renowned musculoskeletal expert Dr. Andreo Spina -
FRC is a system of joint health and mobility training based on scientific principles and research. Focusing on human movement optimisation working on mobility development, articular strength, and neurological control.

The system has a healthy and honest view of the evolutionary perspective of health, asking and answering what the homo sapiens were naturally selected to do. And in the modern, technologically advanced world we live in today, we are straying further away from our hunter-and-gatherer biology. We have developed a movement deficit and we are not moving as much as dictated by our DNA, nor as much as we are required to maintain musculoskeletal health. This system brings us back to being ‘more human’

TEACHING APPROACH

Studio & Online classes

I genuinely feel like I have the best job in the world! I get to meet a lot of wonderful people who wants to take part in my classes as well as working with clients on a One to One personalised basis and I value everyone! I get to improve people's lives by being a part of their wellbeing, transformation and journey to become stronger, more mobile and feeling better about themselves. The 'Empath Sandra' completely understands when a new client feels nervous about taking part, I promise I’m WITH you every step of the way. The 'go getter Sandra' knows when to push a little further to make sure change happens. Always in a safe and strategic manner. I’m WITH you! The best part of my job is always the surprise people experience when they notice, feel and see a positive change in their mind and body after attending just a few classes with me.

I keep my classes small, this gives me the opportunity to individualise the exercises and the chance to give corrections and adaptations when needed.
