A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME

Pilates Teacher / FRC Mobility Specialist / Exercise Referral

From Dance Lineage to Personal Healing:

My relationship with movement began in the dynamic world of contemporary dance during the late 1990s and early 2000 at Laban Dance School (now Trinity Laban).

Training at Laban placed me directly inside the pioneer lineage of Contemporary UK Dance-Pilates. Immersed in the rehabilitative methodologies established by figures like Alan Herdman, Gordon Thomson, and Susanne Lahusen, I learned Pilates through the rich, fluid lenses of Laban Movement Analysis and Bartenieff Fundamentals. This foundational era—which shares the exact historical and textbook DNA as Body Control Pilates—taught me to deconstruct exercises into safe building blocks, focusing on somatic awareness, dynamic spinal alignment, and joint health.

A Turning Point and a New Passion:

My life took a profound turn when I was diagnosed with arthritis and a heart condition.

Facing chronic pain, fear, and limited mobility firsthand forced me to re-evaluate my relationship with my own body. Living through physical limitations became my ultimate catalyst. Driven to find real solutions, I immersed myself in targeted movement science and focused Pilates practice—regaining control, restoring my joint mobility, and managing my symptoms effectively.

This personal triumph changed everything. It ignited a passionate mission that drove me to train professionally and qualify as a Pilates Teacher and Mobility Specialist, dedicating my career to one goal: empowering others to reclaim their bodies, move out of pain, and rediscover the joy of movement.

TEACHING APPROACH

Compassionate Care, Strategic Results

Chronic pain and physical restrictions can feel debilitating—they steal your confidence and create a sense of loss. Because I have walked that path myself, my studio is built on deep respect, active listening, and zero judgment.

I meet you exactly where you are today with genuine empathy. At the same time, I bring a firm, strategic framework grounded in modern movement science. I don't believe in forcing bodies into a one-size-fits-all box; instead, I provide the gentle encouragement you need to feel safe, paired with the expert structure required to help you build lasting, real-world strength.

High-Level Science for Real-World Bodies

To ensure my clients receive the absolute highest standard of care, I continuously refine my craft through modern, evidence-based disciplines:

  • Functional Range Conditioning (FRC®): Developed by world-renowned musculoskeletal expert Dr. Andreo Spina, FRC® is a system of joint health and mobility training based on modern scientific research. It focuses on mobility development, articular strength, and neurological control—restoring active joint health and bringing us back to how our bodies were naturally designed to move.

  • Exercise Referral Specialist Credentials: Qualified and insured to work with long-term medical conditions, joint replacements, and complex injuries.

  • Advanced Biomechanical Study: Deep integration of BioFlow Anatomy, Articular Function & Neurology, Progressive Tissue Loading & Adaptation, and Joint Rehabilitation.

  • Advanced Apparatus Specialisation: Continuous study with Body Control Pilates.

Whether you are managing osteoarthritis, frozen shoulder, hip/knee replacements, back pain, or looking to enhance athletic performance, every exercise is backed by modern movement science.

Beyond Labels: The "Layers" Approach

To give every client the safest, most effective experience, I do not restrict my group classes to rigid labels like "Beginner"or "Advanced." Except for specific introductory courses or experienced groups, my classes are taught as All Levels using a progressive "Layers" Method.

An exercise isn't automatically safe just because it's called "beginner," nor is a dynamic move off-limits just because it's labeled "advanced." True movement mastery is about adapting the exercise to the body in front of me. In every class, I introduce movements at a safe, fundamental baseline and build them up layer-by-layer using four scientific levers:

  1. Base of Support (How stable your position is)

  2. Lever Length (How far your limbs extend from your center)

  3. Range of Motion (How deep or large the movement is)

  4. Speed & Control (How fast or deliberate the pace is)

You are always empowered to choose the layer that honors your body best on any given day.

My Commitment to You

My commitment is to provide a safe, expert, and highly supportive space for you to train. In return, I ask one simple thing: bring your focus inward.

Pilates is not a competitive sport. In my studio, we leave comparison at the door. When you stop worrying about what the person on the next mat is doing and tune into your own body, that is where true, lasting transformation happens.

"Seeing the surprise and joy on a client's face when they realize they can move without pain again is the best part of my job. I would be honored to guide you on your movement journey."

SPECIALIST

Functional Range Conditioning

Developed by world-renowned musculoskeletal expert Dr. Andreo Spina -
FRC is a system of joint health and mobility training based on scientific principles and research. Focusing on human movement optimisation working on mobility development, articular strength, and neurological control.

The system has a healthy and honest view of the evolutionary perspective of health, asking and answering what the homo sapiens were naturally selected to do. And in the modern, technologically advanced world we live in today, we are straying further away from our hunter-and-gatherer biology. We have developed a movement deficit and we are not moving as much as dictated by our DNA, nor as much as we are required to maintain musculoskeletal health. This system brings us back to being ‘more human’
